
How the learning environment influences the process
An Enabling Learning Environment for the elderly is one that develops confidence, stimulates mental activity and promotes well-being. This enables older people to continue learning, stay engaged and feel valued. It is designed and focused on creating a respectful, inclusive and adaptable environment that recognizes the unique experiences, learning rhythms and interests of older learners.

Learning presupposes a safe environment where everyone feels comfortable asking questions without fear, sharing stories and experiences, relating content and where critical thinking is valued. People’s emotions and feelings must be valued and respected, as emotions are a fundamental part of learning. Finally, it is also important to take into account the comfort of the space itself, access and resources (access to the rooms, the comfort of the chairs, as well as the lighting, the size of the letters on the materials, the quality of the projections, etc.)
