Motivation, social bonding and confidence building as key points for learning
Motivation, confidence building and social bonding together provide a safe, encouraging and productive learning environment where learners feel motivated to grow, supported by others and confident in their abilities.
It is in such environments that learning is strongly favoured.
Motivation plays a fundamental role, driving commitment and effort in the persistence of achieving goals; it improves learning outcomes, since learners see value and relevance in retaining and applying knowledge; and it encourages lifelong learning by sustaining curiosity.
In turn, confidence building is also a fundamental point, as it serves as a lever for seniors to explore (more) any and/or new activities; to share ideas and thoughts and to be able to recognize their own value.
Trust also plays a crucial role in establishing communication with others and strengthening social ties. Thus, social bonding is also favored, promoting a reduction in isolation and creating feelings of belonging, which are highly important for psychological well-being.
In short, the combination of these 3 factors creates supportive environments, increases learner autonomy, reduces the fear of failure, and promotes increased self-esteem and satisfaction.
