Mobile learning offers seniors practical, on-the-go digital skills, especially through smartphones and tablets.
Many seniors prefer smartphones or tablets over computers because they are more portable and intuitive. Teaching seniors how to use mobile apps – video calls, health tracking, online shopping, or navigation – can directly improve their independence. Mobile devices also offer voice commands, touch-based interaction, and customizable accessibility settings. Seniors can practice digital skills anywhere, making learning more convenient and context-based (e.g., using Google Maps on public transport or setting reminders for medication). Mobile learning also helps bridge the digital divide for seniors in rural areas where desktop access may be limited but smartphones are widely available.
Introduce seniors to one essential mobile app at a time, such as WhatsApp or Google Maps, and practice using it together in real-life situations.
